Totem Skill Swapping Guide

Each of your units can have 2 Skills at any given time. Once you reach Level 16, Skill Swapping will be unlocked at the blacksmith. With Skill Swapping you can transfer skills to similar type units (i.e. a skill from one Steel Marshall to a different Steel Marshall). Here are four things to keep in mind when Skill Swapping.

#1. Similar Units
As I noted above, you can only swap Skills between similar unit types. For example, you can only transfer a Skill between one Bloodzerker to another Bloodzerker. The rarity of the unit does not matter, but usually rarer cards come with higher level Skills. I found it best to transfer skills from common units to rarer units.

#2. Destroyed Unit
When you transfer a Skill from one unit to another, the unit you take the Skill from will be destroyed. You can use 50 Tokens to keep material Units, but in my opinion the Token cost is not worth it.

#3. Coin Cost
Each Skill Swap will cost you a decent amount of coins. You can also improve the % outcome of success up to a 100% Skill Swap success rate. If you don't increase the success rate and the Swap fails you will lose the Unit. I found it is best to always use the 100% success rate when Skill Swapping.

#4. Skill Swapping Vs. Unit Fusion
This is the biggest decision you will have to make when Skill Swapping. Either transfer a Skill to a powerful unit or forget about the Skill and fuse that unit to make the powerful unit even stronger. So far at level 20, I found it is best to take Skills only from basic unit cards and use Magical units to fuse with Superior units. Note: This may change as I continue to level up and find better unit cards.

Totem Review

So I've played Totem for a few days now and it is a pretty well made strategy game. There are a variety of game modes including Conquest, Adventure and PvP (1v1 and 2v2). I struggled a bit around levels 18 and 19, but currently I am at level 22. If you want to play an in-depth strategy game with a low time commitment, you should give Totem a try. Here are some things I learned while playing this game.

#1. Save Your Soul Cards
The Soul Cards in Totem are Human, Tula'an and Orc Cards. Soul Cards are used to create Unit Cards that you obtain as you play Totem. The rarer the Unit Card, the more Soul Cards you will need. For example, Basic Units require 1 Soul Card, Magical Units require 6-8, Superior Units require 12 and more powerful Units require even more souls. You can get these Soul Cards from PvP, Special Events, Quests, the Mystery Shop, the Store and Adventures.

#2. Get Your Coins

Coins are used for buying things at the Mystery Shop, Upgrading Units, Forging/Enhancing Gear etc. You can get more coins by completing quests, adventuring, totem exchange, click "Get Coins" at the top of your screen, selling unwanted items etc. Make sure to take advantage of the daily freebies at the top right of your screen. I didn't realize this until a few days in of playing Totem.

#3. Focus On Leveling Up If Stuck
As I mentioned before, I was stuck and couldn't get any further through the game at level 18 and even level 19. However, I replayed lower level adventures for more EXP and once I reached level 20 I got a superior unit as a quest reward. The next superior unit I got was at adventure level 35 when I got a Superior Unit Box as a random reward. In order to progress, you need to Fuse rare Units with less rare units, Forge/Upgrade Equipment and keep leveling up and keep obtaining better unit cards.

#4. Low Time Commitment
You can actually simulate adventures and conquests by Raiding. You just have to spend energy (Gained at a rate of 5 energy every 30 minutes) and you can Raid while you're offline. Rewards will be given to you after the Raids have been completed. Usually the Raids take 30 minutes to an Hour depending on how much Energy you choose to spend.

Totem Online By Game Fuse

So I just started playing this game called Totem, created by Game Fuse. It was released in the U.S. around the middle of November 2012. I started playing it yesterday and it is actually a pretty fun strategy game so far.

I'll probably make a site on it if the game becomes popular, but right now I'm just trying it out.

The Game
Basically you create an army of whatever types of units you want. It is better to balance your army with Tank, Healer, Ranged etc., however you can mix and match your army in any way you choose.
There are PvP battles (1v1 and 2v2) and a lot of different customization features for your army.

Unit Fusion
You can combine units in order to create a more powerful single unit. You can also swap skills between units of the same type.

Forging
You can create different items that can be equipped to your individual army members. Materials can be obtained by adventuring in Hero Island.

Enchanting
You can even upgrade the equipment that you forge to make your army members even more powerful.

Daily Events/ Bonuses
Every day you get get free magic power, gold, honor etc.. There are also daily quests you can complete for a variety of rewards.

So far this game has exceeded by initial expectations. I'll continue to play it over the next few days and see if it holds my interest.
